Welcome to the New Zealand Land Cover Explorer. This tool allows you to explore and analyse New Zealand land cover change over five time periods - 1996/97, 2001/02, 2008/09, 2012/13, 2018/19 and 2023/24.
From LCDB Version 5.0, a new wetland indicator was introduced in the data and identifies wetlands in all their variety. In the Land Cover Explorer, you can view all wetlands by turning on the Wetlands Only switch.
It is best viewed using the Google Chrome browser, on a desktop. On mobile devices, it is best viewed in portrait mode, however please be aware due to the nature of the site, performance may not be optimal.
