The layers in this category (e.g. cartographic text, transport and water) can be overlaid on your map as contextual information.

This is an aspect-slope map, simultaneously showing the aspect and the degree of steepness of slope. Aspect is the main compass direction (North, North East, East, etc.) that a slope faces, and has been calculated using a 3x3 window around each pixel of an in-house 15m resolution Digital Elevation Model (DEM). Each aspect has been colour-coded, (e.g. blue for east, orange for west), and is measured in degrees (°) from north. In addition to the aspect, degree of slope is also symbolized using saturation (brilliance of colour);the steeper the slope the brighter the colour. For example, bright red corresponds to steep south-west facing slopes, while pale blue are shallow easterly facing slopes.

N.B. Feature information currently only returns the direction of slope, and not the slope angle itself - slope angle can be obtained from the dedicated “Steepness of Slope” layer.
